Weather on Station Linné

Station Linné has unique weather statistics that reach all the way back to 1964. The data in these statistics include several parameters like precipitation, wind, ground and air temperature.

For the guest researchers at Station Linné this is included as an extra service. Others can purchase these weather data for a fee of SEK 1500 plus SEK 300 for each month of data. Welcome to contact us and we will tell you more.

Treasures of Öland

At Station Linné we have been organising nature experience activities for more than ten years. Thousands of families, school kids and visitors from all over Europe have visited us and have had an unforgettable nature experience with our guides or on their own along our inimitable, free walking trails.

Hike on your own!

There are three fantastic trails starting at Station Linnaeus; 2 km, 3 km and 6.5 km. Plasticized maps be borrowed from the mailbox on the stations west end, close to the information boards. Alternatively, you can download them and print your own copy.

6,5 km hiking trail

This 6.5 km long walking trail winds through historical landscapes, extremely species-rich deciduous forests and the unique ”Stora Alvaret” - in short terms, you will enjoy the best of Ölands nature and hidden history during this walk! The approximately 6.5 km long (medium difficulty) walk begins and ends at Station Linné (1). There are red arrows marking most of the trail, but the route is quite obvious to follow together with the map and notes below. There are no trails out on the Great Alvar, but despite this, the final kilometers of the flat and open landscape shall not cause any problems. The cows grazing on the Great Alvar can sometimes be perceived as a bit curious, but if you ignore them they will soon ignore you too. Good footwears are recommended: if it hasnt rained recently or is very wet in the surroundings then you wont need waterproofs. Expect it will take around 3-4 hours to get around this trail - theres plenty to look at and to examine in the nature of Öland - so dont forget to bring something to drink. Or why not have a picnic? There are tables around the trail for you to use.

Other acitivities

We organise unique and fruitful nature tours between May and late August. You can view our programme here

In May, when the orchirds flower and the birds arrive on Öland, follow us on one of our orchid or bird tours.  Summertime is perfect to explore the flowerings meadows, look for butterflies or take a hike on the Alvar with one of our guides.

Kids will have a great time on our nature experience programme "Humlans Naturspanare" during the summer.

For a real out of the ordinary activity, be sure not to miss Mystery in the dark (Mystik i mörkret), an evening activity there we search for bats, moths and other nocturnal animals. We organise Mystik i mörkret several times between May and August.

These tours are in Swedish, but most guides can accommodate English speaking guests. Just call in advance!

Groups

For groups we can organise  both special interests and general excursions.  Contact us with your requests.
